International Afro-Pop-soul sensation Nomina has released her latest single, God’s Gift to the World, a captivating blend of Amapiano and Gospel that resonates with themes of humanity, connection, and unwavering belief. Launched on 22nd December 2025, this track marks a poignant chapter in Nomina’s artistic journey, transforming a timeless hit into a fresh, heartfelt expression.
Though not an original composition, God’s Gift to the World holds profound personal significance for Nomina. The song entered her world through an encounter during a trip to Barcelona, where she supported a close friend from Germany at an art exhibition in the Barcelona Art Museum. It was there that Nomina connected with Jane Cooper, a renowned artist from the United States. Their instant bond blossomed into a supportive friendship, with Jane consistently championing Nomina’s talent and sharing her music far and wide.
Jane’s encouragement paved the way for a pivotal introduction to Mike Himelstein. During a memorable call at 5:00 p.m. while Nomina was in Botswana, Mike expressed genuine excitement about her work, particularly after hearing her casually released track Rice, which later garnered nominations in London. He sent Nomina two songs, highlighting God’s Gift to the World as the perfect fit, urging her to bring it to life. The track’s familiar power, having been a hit multiple times over the years, ignited Nomina’s inspiration, fuelled by Mike’s enthusiasm and her own sense of responsibility to honour its legacy.
The production journey was deliberate and challenging. Nomina sought the ideal collaborator, experimenting with several producers until she found synergy with Mr. Brown. Their sessions fostered a natural, genuine creative flow, involving time in the studio to understand each other’s processes and musicians. Amid this, Nomina confronted a significant personal hurdle: vocal difficulties leading to a diagnosis of a growth on her vocal cord. Advised on options including surgery, she persevered, adapting as singing grew more physically and emotionally demanding. Travelling between Botswana, Germany, and South Africa, she completed the recording in Mr. Brown’s intimate, well-equipped studio in South Africa. The atmosphere was collaborative and warm, with Mr. Brown’s son dancing along, his wife joining in, and musicians like a live guitarist contributing. As a fellow vocalist, Mr. Brown stepped in to handle choir parts when a full ensemble proved unfeasible, adding a layer of support that deepened the experience. Through God’s Gift to the World, Nomina aims to evoke a sense of shared humanity and remembrance in an era dominated by the internet, artificial intelligence, and distractions. The release emerged openly, collaboratively, and with immense heart, capturing a beautiful moment in her evolution as an artist.
Nomina is a 2x award-winning international Afro-Pop-soul artist renowned for her powerful vocals, emotive songwriting, and genre-blending sound. With chart-topping releases across Africa, Europe, and the United States, she continues to position herself as a global cultural ambassador whose music celebrates love, identity, and unity. Through her organisation, ACA by Nomina, she remains steadfast in the quest to empower communities in advancing comfortability in education. Based in Germany, Nomina draws from her Zimbabwean mother’s heritage and Botswanan father’s roots, sharing her life with four siblings. Her musical passion ignited in 2016, influenced by diverse genres from country and blues to rock and soul in her hometowns.
The stage name Nomina evolved from her earlier moniker Pamela B, which felt misaligned. A recurring dream revealed the name through a song, appearing three times until its meanings crystallised: in Italian, it signifies the nominated; in Zulu, it translates to I found myself. This represented purpose, self-discovery, and arrival, embodying her true identity as an artist.
